327 WOMEN JOIN RSLAF THIS WEEKEND...

WHAT: As Commander-In-Chief of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and Minister of Defence, His Excellency the President Brigadier General (Retired) Julius Maada Bio will proclaim a total of 327 women as Officers and Soldiers of RSLAF this weekend.

WHO: Out of the overall number of female Cadets and Recruits expected to formally join the RSLAF, 59 will commission as Officers and 268 will pass out as Soldiers. Among the Officers are 19 Specialists, namely, Medical Doctors, Nurses, Legal Practitioners and Engineers. The Soldiers comprise 71 tradeswomen in fields of driving, masonry, music, sports, tailoring etc.

WHEN: The Presidential Proclamation will be made during a Commissioning and Passing-Out-Parade Ceremony, which will commence at 9:00am on Saturday, 7 September, 2019.

WHERE: The Ceremony will take place at the Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) in Benguema near Waterloo, the Capital of Western Area Rural District

WHY: The Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (ACDS) for Training and Doctrine, Brigadier General Michael Mohamed Samura said the Ceremony is designed to formally employ the female Cadets and Recruits into the military. “That is why each and every Cadet and Recruit will subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance”, Brigadier General Samura emphasized.
